What the new phytosanitary rules mean for export consignments

Recent updates to phytosanitary certification requirements affect how tissue-culture consignments are documented for export from Sri Lanka. As a registered Seed Handler coordinating inspection on site with Katunayake quarantine, we’ve adjusted our standard dispatch paperwork accordingly.

Every export consignment now ships with: a phytosanitary certificate confirming freezer-free, pest-free status; a batch traceability sheet showing the 16-digit batch code, intake date and mother-stock source; and a genetic fidelity statement confirming true-to-type propagation from indexed stock.

For buyers working to tighter import requirements — several EU and Gulf markets have added supplementary declarations this year — we can also provide virus-indexing results and media-composition statements on request. None of this adds to dispatch time when requested at the time of order; retrofitting it onto an already-placed order can add several days, so raise any specific documentation needs when you place your quote request.
